Is it possible that there are different meanings for "Bossa Nova"? In that regard, I'll proffer the afore listed link as testimony thereof. And while I'm thinking about it, albeit very shallowly at this point, I was pondering why, music of that umberage is referred to as Latin, yet the language is either Spanish or Portugese. So in that regard, shouldn't Italian Operas be referred to as Latin music? What's up with that?

I'd say the reason is Opera originated in Italy and is a v specific style, while "Latin" encompasses many rhythms and harmonic structures whose nature is already a blend between Latin Euro musical tradition and those from African and/or Indigenous American tribes, originating in the Americas. So Latin music is a blend of musical traditions, Opera isn't.
Bossa nova has one meaning: it denotes the blend between Jazz and Samba, with an emphasis on harmony instead of percussion, which started in 1950s or so, in Rio de Janeiro.
